Stockstill, Illinois coach share bond

MURFREESBORO – MTSU football coach Rick Stockstill’s phone rang Sunday night, and on the other end was long-time coaching buddy Bill Cubit.

Back in 1985, Stockstill and Cubit were assistant coaches at Central Florida. Come Saturday, Stockstill guides the Blue Raiders against host Illinois, now coached on an interim basis by Cubit, who took over when former Fighting Illini coach Tim Beckman was fired just prior to the start of the season.
